Community Business - Bridging Talent & Opportunity Workshop (21 August 2025)

Unlocking a person's potential requires us to look in new places and in new ways.

We were grateful to be one of the guest speakers at Community Business' recent workshop, focusing on social mobility by 'Bridging Talent & Opportunity'. During the course of our discussions, a central theme emerged: we must actively redefine what "talent" looks.

This is a responsibility shared across every level of our society:

For Individuals: Own your full story. Your CV should be a canvas of your achievements, skills, and the unique life experience you bring—not just a ledger of past job titles.

For Corporations: Audit and evolve your hiring practices. Scrutinize language requirements, expand your university recruitment list, and remove hidden barriers to open doors wider for underrepresented talent.

For The Collective: Forge powerful partnerships. Businesses, NGOs, and community organisations must collaborate to create the ecosystem for change—through mentoring, internship programmes, and job-matching initiatives that build genuine ladders of opportunity.

This is how we build a future where everyone has a fair shot to succeed, regardless of their starting point.

A profound thank you to every participant for your passion and actionable insights.

The conversation to build a more inclusive Hong Kong continues. Let's turn these ideas into action.
